And it's not just brown like a curled up, dead leaf, it depicts a leaf catching the light, with shadows in all the right places and you can even see the veins casting tiny shadows along the curled underside. It's like one of those optical illusions that still work even when you know it's a trick.
I doubt they're found often, but if you're up for the challenge you'll have to go to China and Taiwan to try your luck. Either that or most of the world's dead leaves are actually moths...

I have this thing for moths I think they are more beautiful than butterflies. And this one blew me away! I could not stop looking at it! Wow!
Moths certainly have a subtle and amazingly detailed beauty about them. This one is just ridiculous! I still stop and stare every time I see it!
WOW! I mean...just...wow......That is some EXTREMELY good camouflage! I thought that is actually curled it wings to achieve the curled dead leaf look....until I saw the first video. Let's all be glad that this thing isn't a super predator.
Yeh! It's difficult to really see it as a 2 dimensional surface!
You realy do have a nice blog, im always trying to make blogs that generate income, and some times I forget how fun it was to just write about something you like/enjoy and are interested in, I see that type of bloging going on with your site and it reminds me of my younger days when I blogged for fun and because I enjoyed it not cause I needed to pay bills ect.

This moth is right here in NY.
My daughter just sent me a picture of one that's been on her porch all day.
I live in Massachusetts and have seen this moth twice. Last year..there was a curled up brown moth that looked exactly like a dead leaf on my back porch. And, just today..I found a rather large one in my living room. YIKES!! I called my husband to take it outside. My husband said: "It's only a curled up leaf"..when he saw it. But..I said: "Oh no it isn't..you'll see". When my husband got outside with what he thought was a curled up leaf..he saw it stretch its wings and fly away. So..I read that these moths are only found in China and Taiwan?? Not true!! These moths are happily living in Massachusetts..and someone else said that they are living in NY too.
